As we bid farewell to Former Justice Margaret White, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for her incredible service and dedication as CREATE’s patron since 2019. Justice White has been an unwavering advocate for children and young people, and her contributions have left a lasting impact on our organisation.
Justice White’s journey with CREATE began through her involvement with the Queensland Public Interest Law Clearing House (QPILCH), now known as LawRight. She saw firsthand the challenges faced by young people transitioning from care and was inspired by CREATE’s work to give these young people a voice. Her commitment to listening to those most affected has been a guiding principle throughout her time as patron.
We acknowledge Justice White’s influence and leadership during the Royal Commission into the Protection and Detention of Children in the Northern Territory, and her efforts in amplifying CREATE’s mission, she has helped raise awareness of the critical issues facing young people in care. Her belief that “we don’t always know what’s best for other people” serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of listening to children and young people.
We are deeply grateful for Justice White’s support over the past five years. Her public profile, expertise, and passion have helped CREATE, and her legacy will continue to inspire us as we move forward.
Thank you, Justice White, for your dedication, your wisdom, and your belief in the voices of young people. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours and will always be thankful for your time with CREATE.
