The clock is ticking … Abstract submissions closing soon!
The countdown is on! With less than a month until submissions close for abstracts for CREATE’s 2017 Conference Voices in Action: empowering young people for positive change time is running out to get involved. CREATE is calling for proposals broadly focused on improving outcomes for children and young people with a care experience. This can include presentations which showcase where children and young people’s voices are actively used to change things for the better, or innovative projects or programs that encourage young people’s participation. This is a rare opportunity for presenters to deliver their message to an engaged audience that includes young people with a care experience, carers, care sector professionals, decision makers and researchers.
CREATE’s diverse conference attendees offer a range of opportunities and we encourage you to develop interactive, interesting and engaging presentations that can cater to this broad audience. So whether you’re a first time presenter or a seasoned professional, we want to hear your unique message. This can be from practice, academic or life experience – thinking outside the box is welcomed!

Workshop Sneak Peak: Freedom Road Creative Arts
All the way from the UK, Freedom Road Creative Arts (FRCA) will be running music and song writing sessions for Voices in Action: empowering young people for change.
FRCA are a youth organisation who aim to aim to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people in care and to empower, raise confidence and give a voice to them primarily through the creative and performing arts. They work to engage with children and young people who are either in care, in need or deemed as at risk, by providing a series of consistent high quality creative arts workshops. Through the weekly workshops in drama, dance and music, as well as regular public performances, the FRCA team work with around 100 young people each week.
The songwriting sessions will be facilitated by Luke and FRCA music mentor Liam Foster. The session aims to explore issues affecting the young people in attendance, and their stories will create a set of positive messages which will form the base of a musical performance supported by instrumentation.We are so excited to have them on board and can’t wait to have a go at writing our own songs.

Conference Registrations and Grants Opening Soon!
Keep your eye out as conference registrations open in the next couple of weeks. We have a variety of different rates for young people, carers, sector professionals and Forgotten Australians. Also coming soon will be more information about the grant scheme operated by CREATE to assist young people from around Australia to attend the conference and take part in this life changing opportunity!
