South Australia’s annual sibling connection event brought more than 100 children, young people and their carers together over the weekend for a fun day at Inflatable Zone!
Organised by CREATE in SA, the event welcomed over 18 different sibling groups for a day filled with reunions and shared experiences. Amidst the bounce of trampolines and laughter, it was clear to see the powerful connections among these siblings, some of whom may not live under the same roof.
“It’s hard to fit in lots of sibling catch ups with multiple kids in different foster homes. These connection events help get all the siblings together in a fun, inclusive and safe space. It means so much to us.”

CREATE was so fortunate to have the incredibly talented, First Nations artist Emmarita Brown from Yankirri Arts produce a spectacular artwork for the event, providing a visual representation of sibling connection. Emmarita’s art will be showcased at the Youth Arts meets Parliament event at Parliament House on 5 June.
The children and young people also contributed to a piece of art for National Reconciliation Week that represented their connections with each other.
We were grateful to welcome local MP, Erin Thompson who generously spent time with the young people and their carers, hearing their stories and what they had to say.
“(Appreciated) the opportunity for the kids to see each other in a fun and safe environment.
The kids loved it.”

Thank you to the NGOs and services that joined our event this year to share information about their support options. These services were Aboriginal Family Support Services, Key Assets, Life Without Barriers, Lutheran Care, The Reily Foundation and Annie Harvey from The Still Effect who shared her amazing Giggle Game, which the young people loved.
And finally, a huge thank you to Cathy and the amazing team at Inflatable Zone.
We are looking forward to next year’s event.
